Kristopher Hull is a New York City pianist, performer, and creator best known for transporting a custom-mounted 1964 Baldwin upright piano through the streets of Manhattan. He has appeared everywhere from Central Park and Times Square to film sets, television productions, weddings, brand activations, and cultural events.
Raised in Kenya and Greece, Kris has played the piano since he was a child but studied architecture at Rice University. He later lived and worked in many countries around the world before settling in New York City. His experiences traveling, sailing across the Atlantic, and pursuing competitive cycling at an international level helped shape a lifelong fascination with the intersection of music, adventure, and public space.
Part performance, part public artwork, and part modern-day quest, the @pianisterrant project draws inspiration from that famous knight errant Don Quixote—and his belief that pursuing seemingly impossible ideas can reveal something meaningful about the world. Mounted on a custom-built steel frame and weighing nearly 500 pounds, the piano has become a familiar sight throughout New York City.
Over the years, Kris has collaborated with street artists, filmmakers, photographers, musicians, and creators from around the world. His performances have been featured by major television networks, international media outlets, and social media collaborations reaching millions of viewers.
Today, Kris continues to push his piano through NYC, creating unexpected moments of connection between strangers and bringing music to places where it is least expected. Whether on a film set, at a private celebration, or on a busy city sidewalk, his goal remains the same: to transform ordinary spaces into unforgettable experiences.
